JAMB and Mobile Services- What You Should Know

  03 August 2015

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is the federal government approved body in Nigeria overseeing admissions of students into the various tertiary institutions in the country.

With the increasing sophistication of technology in the world today, everyone is going digital and mobile, and JAMB has been taking full advantage of this also in ensuring academic process satisfaction for Nigerian youth.

Here are some major areas JAMB has integrated mobile services into their system in keeping at pace with the changing technology.

In the just concluded 2015 Jamb-UTME computer based test (CBT), candidates had the opportunity to get their results the day after the examination.

During registration for the examination, the candidates are requires to provide a valid phone number. Once the exams are concluded, JAMB’s SMS API sends the result to that phone number. As such, you will only need to go to the cyber café if you want to print an original copy of the result.

It was a welcome development on the part of the students. Bulk SMS speed and efficiency in disseminating important information had again been effectively proven. It had never been in doubt.

2 years ago, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) launched a mobile application that is designed to assist candidates in getting important concerning their UTME and admission.

Among the things that can be accessed on the mobile app are: checking UTME results, verifying results, getting back registration number if forgotten and checking for admission status. This application is going a long way in easing up JAMB candidates’ admission experience.

It is only available for use on android phones though and can be downloaded on Google play store.
