What is the Transactional Bind or Bank Route
The transactional bind is also known as the corporate or financial bind and has been referred to several times as the bank route. As the name implies, this route is specifically made for corporate organizations especially financial institutions and others who send unique personalized messages to individuals, rather than a bulk SMS to everyone.
Use Case for the Transactional Bind or Bank Route
The financial or transactional bind can be used for the following:
- Sending One Time Passwords (OTPs) to customers to complete unique transactions
- Sending transactional alerts by banks or other financial institutions
- Fintechs; for transactional messages

Cons or Limitations of the Transactional Bind or Bank Route
- The use of the route is not automatic as it is subjected to the approval of an application, by the network operators and the NCC in some cases
- The application process and approval can be quite long sometimes.
How to Use the Transactional Bind or Bank Route
The transactional bind can be granted upon an application for the route and subsequent approval by the network providers.
Follow the process below to apply for the transactional/financial/corporate bind or bank route:
- Visit the website; app.smartsmssolutions.com and log in with your email address and password
- Click on SMS, which is the second option on the left menu section
- Look down the list of options and click on Corporate/Financial Bind
- Then select SUBMIT SENDER ID FOR TRANSACTIONAL/FINANCIAL BIND
- Click on Download Letter Templates
- Open the downloaded Zip Files containing the sample letters of application from your device
- Extract the Files
- Then use the template for each network operator to draft your letter of application for Sender ID registration
- Return to the page for SUBMIT SENDER ID FOR TRANSACTIONAL/FINANCIAL BIND
- Input the following details correctly:
- Sender ID
- Name of Organization
- Sample Message
11. Then, proceed to upload the following documents:
- CAC Certificate
- Application letters for each operator, namely; MTN, GLO, Airtel, and 9Mobile
- CBN License
- NCC Approval Letter
12. Once you’ve done all these, click on Submit Sender ID for Approval
We will receive your application immediately, after which we will screen it here to be sure you sent the right documents and accurate information. The application will then be forwarded to each of the network operators and await approval.
What you need to do then is to exercise some patience as approval can take about 5-15 business days. Upon approval, we will notify you of this through the mail and/or a phone call. You can start enjoying the financial bind or bank route for delivery of SMS to your recipients irrespective of DND status.
