Usually, the different GSM networks can be identified using the phone number prefixes, as there are different prefixes for different networks. 

The following is a list of the current phone number prefixes for MTN:

• 0703
• 0706
• 0803
• 0806
• 0810
• 0813
• 0814
• 0816
• 0903
• 0906
• 0913

As an example, a random MTN phone number would be something like 08134325674 or 08062266226. 

What it simply means is that when you see any phone number beginning with any of the above prefixes, then that number is an MTN number. 

How to Send SMS to MTN Phone Numbers 

You might wonder: “Why would I want to know what phone numbers are MTN numbers?”. Well, for several reasons. One of them might be that you are receiving a call from the number or you want to call such a number and you just want to be sure of the network. It could also be that you want to send SMS to the phone numbers, and you want to know which ones are MTN.

Well, if the latter is the case, then follow the procedure below to send SMS to an MTN Phone Number:
