Disciplining a Child-Where do the Parents and Teachers Meet?

        08 February 2022

In a world where morality has taken a downward slide, and peer pressure is on the increase, it is a big challenge to train up a child successfully, especially when they are still very young. The world around them through its media and even the masses promotes rebellion against authorities; parents and teachers in this regard. Children are also exposed to many of their age group who are not well trained and can be of bad influence. That is why proper discipline is essential to shape up a child for the best in the future.

The reason why you discipline a child is for the child to be conscious of his/her dignity as a human person. This isn’t an easy task as already noted. Both the parents and the teachers in schools have roles to play towards ensuring a child is molded into a good adult.

SUCCESSFUL TRAINING OF A CHILD-THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PARENTS AND TEACHERS

For each party to play its role in the development and discipline of a child, there must be effective communication between the parents and the school management. The reason for this is that during these critical years in the child’s life, he/she spend as much time with the teachers (if not more) as with the parents.

There might be some questionable characters that the child exhibits in school that might not be open to the parents. Additionally, the parents also might notice some changes in attitude-behavior in the child at home which the teachers may not be aware of. This is the major reason why there should be constant communication between the parents and the teachers to address these changes and discipline the child accordingly.

WHAT MODE OF COMMUNICATION BRIDGES THIS GAP?

To address this, the Parents-Teachers Association forum has been put in place in many schools. This goes a long way in providing a platform of dialogue between parents and teachers. We’ve also seen how you can better organize these forum meetings to get the best out of them. Click here to learn.

PTA forums though might not provide a perfect platform for one on one interaction with parents of each child. Another means of communication might be needed. Bulk SMS can be used for this. With a registered bulk SMS account for each class teacher, updates about the general behavior of each pupil can be sent to each parent, and personal discussions can be arranged if need be.

Register a free bulk SMS account if you’ve not yet done so, and see how this wonderful communication technology helps bridge the gap between parents and teachers and makes objective discipline easier.
