Imagine you were trying to send a message ad you get to the part where you have to select a DND management, and you are faced with three option. Do not get confused.

The choice of DND management option to use depends on a number of occasions.

  • The first option delivers messages to phone numbers using the basic route. This means that the mobile numbers active on the DND list will not receive these bulk messages. All messages sent via this option are delivered at 1 unit per page of messages to a number.

The DND management option 1 is your sure tool when you want your messages delivered to phone numbers but you do not want messages delivered to phone numbers on DND. Why would you want to do this? Well you might not have enough units to send messages to all your recipients or you just want the messages to deliver to the few phone numbers that are provisioned to receive bulk sms.

Simply tick this option after you have entered your sender ID, recipients and message.

The DND management option 3 is equipped with the corporate route provision. The corporate route has the ability to deliver messages to phone numbers that are on the DND service.

Sending bulk SMS and getting it delivered to all recipients has become something of a big ask in Nigeria today, thanks in no part to the DND service introduced by the NCC. However, with the New Portal, you can send bulk SMS and still get it delivered to DND phone numbers instantly.

How to Deliver SMS to Phone Numbers on DND

When the DND service was introduced on July 1st 2016 by the NCC, many of us were excited and rightly so. It was high time something was done to the incessant unsolicited text messages we receive from network operators. 5 months down the line and now many wish they never subscribed for it, owing primarily to the frustrating constant cases of undelivered bulk SMS due to DND issues. It has been disastrous, to say the least.

Over the past months, we have been working hard to ensure our esteemed clients still get the best solutions from US with regard to the DND issue causing mass non delivery of bulk SMS. One of the things we’ve done is giving the public the process of opting out of the service. Also, there has been a provision to remove DND numbers from your recipients’ list before sending bulk messages.

Do you also know that you get REFUND of all the SMS units you are charged for DND numbers?

Here at SmartSMSSolutions, from day 1 of the implementation of this service, we have been working our socks off to ensure our clients still get solutions in spite of this unfortunate situation that the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has brought upon us. Here are some landmarks we’ve attained.

One full month on the go since the introduction of the DND service by the network providers in Nigeria. On this platform, we look at what lessons we’ve learnt from the implementation of that service, what has been accomplished and what are the down parts. In the first part, we consider 3 major lessons learnt. If you missed the first part, relive it here.

Here is the second part on an additional 4 lessons learnt from this.

It’s been a full month since the introduction of the DND feature by network providers in Nigeria. This is as a result of the Nigeria Communication’s Commission enforced directive about the option to opt out of promotional messages. Here we take a review of some of the highs and the lows of the features along with possible area for improvement.

What is Do Not Disturb

UPDATE: To unsubscribe from 'Do Not Disturb' (DND):

For MTN Lines Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text ALLOW to 2442.

For AIRTEL lines Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text OUT to 2442.

For GLO Lines Text STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text CANCEL to 2442.

For ETISALAT LinesText STOP to 2442 and after 5 Minutes Text START to 2442.

If you regularly use bulk SMS, you might have noticed non-delivery of your messages to some phone numbers in recent times. This is due to implementation of the ‘Do Not Disturb’ service that Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) mandated the telecommunication providers to implement. NCC issued a directive to the telecommunications service providers in the country that starting from July 1, 2016, they must activate the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) facility which gives subscribers the freedom to choose what messages to receive from the various networks or face sanctions.

What that means is that when send you SMS to phone numbers on DND list, you will be billed but your messages will not be delivered. That is a great loss! But you can stop that henceforth.

Whether you know about it or not, the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) mandated the telecommunication operators to implement ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) starting July 1, 2016. This came on the foot of torrents of complaints submitted to NCC on the abuse of third-party SMS and unsolicited automated calls.

In line with the above, NCC issued a directive to the telecommunications service providers in the country that starting from July 1, 2016, they must activate the ‘Do Not Disturb’ (DND) facility which gives subscribers the freedom to choose what messages to receive from the various networks or face sanctions.

To remove your phone number from the DND list, you will need to text ALLOW to 2442. Despite this, it has been noted that some phone numbers that are not DND list are still not receiving third party SMS. This has been confirmed to be a glitch in the set up process by the telecommunication operators.
