  • Today is Raul Gonzalez Blancos’ Birthday

Raul González Blancos, popularly known as Raul was born on this day June 27th 1977 in the San Cristóbal de los Ángeles neighborhood of Madrid, Spain.

In 1994, he signed his first professional contract with the fourth division team Real Madrid C and then was swiftly promoted to the first division team after a very short time.

Raul spent 16 years of his playing career in Real Madrid from 1994-2009. Here, he won six La Liga titles, three UEFA Champions League titles, four Supercopa de España titles, one UEFA Super Cup and two Intercontinental Cup.

Raul left Real Madrid in 2010 and signed for the German football club Schalke 04. It was here he scored the 400th goal of his football career.

He signed with the Al Sadd in Qatar in 2012. He won the Qatar Stars League in his first season and it was here he clocked 1,000 games of his football career.

 Raul Gonzalez presently plays for New York Cosmos in the MLS.

 Some of Raul’s greatest accomplishments as a player are: the current third highest goal scorer in Champions League history, the second most capped player in the competition, the fourth highest goal scorer in the history of the La Liga competition, the only player to be named UEFA Club Forward of the Year three times, in 2000, 2001 and 2002, the second in the Ballon d'Or 2001 and third in the 2001 FIFA World Player of the Year. Raúl won two Pichichi trophies (1999 and 2001), and the top goal scorer award of the UEFA Champions League (2000 and 2001) and many more.

Djibouti is an African country bordered by Somalia, Eritrea, the Red Sea, Ethiopia and the Gulf of Aden.

In the late 19th century, the country was colonized by the French and was subsequently named the French Territory of the Afars and the Issas in 1967.

10 years later though, the people of Djibouti voted for their Independence and got it on the 27th of June 1977.

On this day in Djibouti, People decorates their windows in the blue, green, white and the red star of the Djiboutian flag to celebrate this historic day.

It’s also a public holiday in Djibouti. We hope they enjoy the day.

Khloe Kardashian is an American television personality born on this day June 27th 1984 in Los Angeles, California, United States.

On September 27, 2009, Khloe married NBA basketball player Lamar Odom.

In 2003, Khloe, in addition to her mother Kris; her step-father Bruce; her siblings Kourtney, Kim, and Rob; and half-sisters Kendall and Kylie were commissioned to star in the reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which is proving to be a hit.

With sisters Kourtney and Kim, Khloe Kardashian is involved in the retail and fashion industries. The sisters also released a book, Kardashian Konfidential, in November 2010.

Some of the shows Khloe featured in are; keeping up with the Kardashians (2007 till present), law and order: LA (2011), Fashion police (2010), among others.

  • On This Day 1976, the World’s first Recorded Ebola Virus Epidemic Broke Out

It was on June 27th 1976 that the first record of Ebola outbreak happened in the African country of Sudan.

The first identifiable case occurred in that country was on a storekeeper in a cotton factory in Nzara, who was hospitalized on 30th June and died on 6th July.

By the time the epidemic was over, about 284 cases were reported and many of the victims, about 151 lost their life.

It could be recall that after that, there have been other outbreaks in DR. Congo in 1995, Uganda in 2000, DR. Congo in 2003, Uganda in 2012 and recently the major outbreaks in some African countries in 2014.
