Speed : With the ever demanding tight schedule of everyday life, we usually do not have the luxury of spending more time on one activity than necessary. Most times we send our messages when we are on the move and sometimes at times when we equally have other things to attend to at the same time. The use of acronyms can help to increase the speed at which we get our messages composed and give us time to move on to other things.
Low cost : A page of message contains a maximum of 160 characters, which is charged at 1 unit. When your messages exceed a page, you get charged additional units for each successive page. With just a character more, SMS units that could have been used for 1000 recipients could end up been used for 500. That is how important the length of your message is.
There is a point of caution though. If your messages are official ones in which the theme of the message could be lost by the use of acronyms or could appear confusing to the reader(s), it’s usually better to minimize the use of acronyms or leave them out altogether. But in cases where they can be used with little or no fuss, using acronyms for your bulk SMS is a nice idea.
For ease of use of acronyms in your bulk SMS, we have put together a list of sample text message acronyms and what they stand for.
