Urgent directives, important updates and emergencies are of the optimum during the youth service year. This is why it is very important for every serving Corp members to always have their ears firmly rooted to the ground during the duration of their service year for such important and urgent directives that might stem from the NYSC zonal office in their place of service.
Such urgent directives might come in forms of general head count as instructed by the NYSC state coordinator or the Director General himself. This directive can be given at any time in order to accurately ascertain the number of Corp members who are present in their various states and local governments of deployment and discover ‘ghost’ Corp members. Those not present for the head count are punished accordingly.
For Corp members who are passing out, there might also be urgent updates about their passing out dates and/or other necessary obligations they need to carry out before the stipulated date. Most of these things have deadlines for them to be carried out; making a channel of communication that reaches everyone immediately necessary.
Another emergency update might be in respect to monthly clearance. Dates for this are usually not known well in advance, but fixed as at when due. Most times, many Corp members are not even aware of this on the day. Intimating them with this as fast as possible is also very important.
